The star has donated the entirety of his £25k honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to save the United Kingdom's small concert spaces.

Fender was presented with the award on 16 October as his latest record the album was declared the top album of the past year.

The musician has opted to give the cash to the trust, in acknowledgment of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it weren't for all the shows I played around the area, and further afield, when I was beginning," said the artist. "These locations are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have permanently closed – about 16% of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, major artists including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which benefits local stages.

Fender also joined in, raising more than £100,000 on his recent tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across the UK.

The donation supported venues that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by floods, blazes and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Additional spaces obtained funding support in upgrading infrastructure and technical equipment that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The notion that revenue from concerts in major spaces supports the smaller venues, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has commented.

Fender is among several artists to contribute his award funds to good deeds.

Back when Pulp earned the trophy in the year 1996 for their record their work, frontman Cocker stated that the act would donate their winnings to the organization War Child.

During 2002, musician she shared her award among a few organizations, including the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"And I gave a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they required new equipment," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

In recent years, Ezra Collective gave their prize money to the local youth club that developed their act, as well as other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners the group donated their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the illness.

"The victory was quite enough," stated vocalist the singer. "The money was the extra but we didn't require the extra, because we had the cake. So our success touched somebody else's life."

In the past week, the trust announced it had protected two local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in the city and The Croft in the city were bought under the community ownership program, which is funded by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the venues.
