Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and introducing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
